The organisers of Rallylegend 2022, taking place from 13 to 16 October, are faced with a real puzzle, in which all the pieces must be perfectly placed to achieve the final goal, which is to offer the public a very memorable edition, the twentieth in fact, of this one-of-a-kind event. And what we have seen so far of this puzzle definitely whets the appetite… First, there is the confirmed support of passionate partners, of international calibre, such as Pirelli, Sparco and Eberhard&Co. Partners that, as ever, will be in attendance and involved with initiatives and guest appearances, which always go down so well with the crowd. Then, the Republic of San Marino that once again provides precious institutional and logistical support, without which Rallylegend could not play out as well as it does.
Entries for the 20th edition of Rallylegend will open on Wednesday 27 July, and is set to close on Monday 26 September. Such an important anniversary is not to be missed.
HOLLIE McRAE, DAUGHTER OF THE UNFORGETTABLE COLIN, THE PATRONESS OF RALLYLEGEND 2022
She has rallying in her blood, Hollie McRae. Having grown up in such an important rallying family, she loves engines, road racing and, above all, she loves hearing people talk about her legendary dad Colin, who she lost when she was ten years old. Hollie was keen to accept the invitation to attend Rallylegend – an event that already celebrated the Scottish champion with the particularly successful “ColinMcRae Tribute” in 2017, held ten years after his passing – and she will be joined in San Marino by grandfather Jimmy and uncle Alister, also drivers of a certain pedigree. Hollie will play an active role as patroness, coordinating a talk-show at the Rallylegend Arena that will involve some of the great champions of the day, her dad’s rivals, and participating in “Best Impreza McRae Edition”, another big event at Rallylegend 2022 and more details of which can be found below. “I’m honoured to be at Rallylegend. And this project that we’re a part of is really fantastic. In recent months, working with the Best Impreza team, I can feel a part of my dad’s story coming back to life”, confesses Hollie McRae, Colin’s daughter. “It’s such a special story for our family, for sport, and also for Scotland. I can’t wait for so many others to be able to appreciate it too”.
BEST IMPREZA McRAE EDITION: TWO LEGENDS TOGETHER. RACE DEBUT AT RALLYLEGEND.
After the interest shown at the last edition, “Best Impreza” returns to Rallylegend. An initiative that is undergoing significant development this year. The first official act of the Best Impreza project will be the presentation, together with the McRae family, at the McRae Rally Challenge taking place at the Scottish circuit of Knockhill on 2-3 July 2022. Then, on 13-16 October, the Best Impreza McRae Edition cars will make their race debut during the twentieth edition of Rallylegend in the Republic of San Marino.
Best Impreza is a project conceived by Carlo Boroli, the founder of Best, to commemorate an era of motorsport that can never be forgotten.
The Best Impreza McRae Edition project thus brings together two legends in the shape of the McRae family, from Jimmy to Max by way of Colin and Alister, and the Group A Subaru Impreza. The family of Scottish champions were very enthusiastic on hearing about Carlo Boroli’s project. The plan, launched three years ago, envisages the creation of a limited and exclusive collection of Group A Subaru Impreza cars, faithful in every detail to the official cars that won two Constructors’ Rally World Championships (1995 and 1996) and a Riders’ World Championship (1995, with Scotsman Colin McRae). All this, thanks to the work of Best Engineering technicians, including Piero Liatti, former factory Subaru driver and winner of the 1997 Monte Carlo rally, who is tasked with the final testing and tuning of the vehicles. Just eight cars will make up the Best Impreza McRae Edition, a number that is not chosen at random, as the first seven commemorate Colin’s Rally World Championship wins at the wheel of a Group A Impreza and the eighth celebrates the 1995 World Championship.
