Republic of San Marino. Rallylegend is almost upon us and the list of legendary champions who will help to make the twentieth edition an unforgettable one continues to grow. As international rally magazine Dirtfish puts it: “…Rallylegend, an annual pilgrimage for classic rally car enthusiasts, from 13 to 16 October…”.
DREAM NAMES AT THE LANCIA 037 40 YEAR TRIBUTE
It is only fitting that big names are in attendance to celebrate forty years since the debut of the Lancia 037, an extraordinary rally car that made a mark on the careers of so many. Set to take part in the Lancia 037 40 Year Tribute are a fantastic group of champions including two-time rally world champion Walter Rohrl and Christian Geistdorfer, along with the ever-popular Markku Alen and Ilkka Kivimaki, the two main teams involved in the 1983 Constructors world championship title win for the Lancia 037, the last two-wheel drive car to win the title, thanks also to the contribution of Bettega-Perissinot and Vudafieri-Pirollo. Cesare Fiorio, Sporting Director at Lancia Martini Racing, will be a guest of honour at Rallylegend, talking to fans at the Rallylegend Arena about the feats of the legendary made in Lancia Abarth saloon, alongside other greats such as two-time world champion Miki Biasion, with trusty Tiziano Siviero, European and Italian champion with the Lancia 037, Dario Cerrato, Adartico Vudafieri, Andrea Zanussi, Tonino Tognana and many more besides. Talks that will flank a static and dynamic exhibition of the most significant and successful Lancia 037 cars, with the liveries that represent an unforgettable rallying era. Rohrl and Alen will be behind the wheel of a Lancia 037 with Martini Racing livery, while Biasion will drive a Totip-Eberhard&Co branded version.
TONINO TOGNANA-MASSIMO DE ANTONI AND THE FIRST ITALIAN RALLY WIN FOR THE LANCIA 037
Special space will be dedicated to the first Lancia 037 win in the Italian Rally Championship, at the 1982 San Marino rally won by Tonino Tognana and Massimo de Antoni. Both men will attend Rallylegend to talk about their significant achievements, together with Cesare Fiorio, Miki Biasion, Dario Cerrato and other stars of that extraordinary season, when the Venetian champion dominated the season aboard the speedy Ferrari 308 GTB before winning the national title with a successful finale at the wheel of the Lancia 037. The Lancia 037 will be joined by the beautiful Ferrari 308 GTB of that year, recently restored to its former splendour.
ANDREA AGHINI BACK AT THE WHEEL OF THE LANCIA DELTA INTEGRALE, 1992 “SANREMO” WINNER
The incredible win by a young Andrea Aghini, alongside Sauro Farnocchia, at the 1992 Sanremo world championship rally is one of those feats that has stuck in the memory of the fans. Thirty years have passed since this historic win for the factory Lancia Delta Integrale in Martini Racing colours and Rallylegend wants to mark the occasion. Hence, Andrea Aghini will be back in action at San Marino, at the wheel of that original Delta, making various exhibition laps during Saturday and Sunday’s Parade around “The Legend” special stage.
